Tommy James The Littlest Cowboy In Reckon’
Tommy James The Littlest Cowboy In Reckon’ is a story about wit and determination. Tommy James may be the littlest cowboy in Reckon’ but he has the heart and determination of a giant. More from award winning author Maria Ashworth.
In Tommy James The Littlest Cowboy In Reckon’ , Tommy James may be little but he knows how to wrangle in a bully like Bo Jones. A cowboy’s story about wit and determination. Tommy James may be the littlest cowboy in Reckon’ but he has the heart and determination of a giant. Bullied by Bo Jones, he quickly figures out how to get around this local cowboy. This is the first in the series.
1. Tommy James is an adorable character. He is the tiniest cowboy in the town of Reckon, but he makes up for his size with his dedication to the job and abundant enthusiasm. Things are going along fine until Bo Jones comes to town. Bo makes fun of Tommy’s size, his slingshot, and his lasso skills. He bullies Tommy wherever he goes.
But one day, an emergency arises when an entire herd of cattle gets loose. Tommy runs out to help. Bo snickers at him wondering how Tommy could possibly help. Bo and his men fail. Tommy singlehandedly figures out a solution to save the day. Will Bo finally recognize Tommy for his unique talent? I enjoyed the vibrant, if sometimes stylized, illustrations. I highly recommend the way the book handles the subject of bullying and the very pleasing resolution of the conflict. As a bonus, a song is included at the end of the book for little cowboys to sing. This book could be considered a picture book or an early beginning chapter book. Suitable especially for ages three through eight. Parents might want to use it as a sibling sharing or family discussion book. Barbara M
2. This is a good story for you and your little one to share. The story is great for small ones to be read to and for older kids to read The Book to you. Tommy Jones is the littlest cowboy in the town of Reckon. No Jackson, a bigger cowboy, liked making fun of him because he was small. One day, the cattle got out and they were in need of help getting them back in. Who will do the job? Is it Tommy James or Bo Jones? Reading is your way to find out. Yipee!!
3. Many kids might feel small and worthless. This book teaches children that everyone has a special gift that they can use to help people. Mark R
